Real-Time Weight Monitoring in Custom Process Tanks

When a customer needs to know exactly how much product is in a tank during production, relying on estimates or manual checks can create unnecessary challenges.


For this project, the requirement was clear: the operator needed continuous visibility of product weight while transferring material into IBC totes. The solution was a custom tank system built with the entire vessel mounted on load cells, allowing the product weight to be measured and monitored in real time.


The load cells communicate directly with the control system, giving operators an accurate weight reading throughout the process without stopping production to check levels manually. This type of monitoring helps improve process visibility and gives the customer better information for managing transfers, inventory, and production steps.


Beyond the weight monitoring system, MIXSYS handled the complete fabrication and integration of the equipment. The team designed and built the support frame, incorporated the control components, and used sanitary tri-clamp fittings to meet the requirements of food-grade processing applications.


The tank was also designed with future flexibility in mind. Additional instrumentation, such as pressure or temperature sensors, can be added later if the customer's process requirements change. Instead of replacing the entire system, the equipment can be modified as production needs evolve.
