Inside the Rise Baking Factory Acceptance Test

A Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) gives a customer the opportunity to evaluate equipment and confirm that it meets their requirements. For a recent project with Rise Baking, MIXSYS completed six batches of testing over three days, working alongside the Rise Baking and Sweet Solutions teams.

The work started well before the first batch entered the mixer.

Preparing for Three Days of Testing

Before the FAT began, the MIXSYS engineering and shop teams designed and fabricated a red stand for the mixer. The team completed the fabrication in-house, then had the stand glass bead blasted and painted by a local vendor.

MIXSYS also coordinated with Sweet Solutions to move the electrical cabinet, mixer stand, mixer, dust collector, and hand-add station into the testing area without disrupting Sweet Solutions' production.

Ingredient logistics required additional planning. The team brought in 15 pallets of ingredients and materials supplied by Rise Baking and coordinated storage between the two facilities.

From there, the teams staged the ingredients according to Rise Baking's planned test batches. They loaded the materials needed for the first runs onto the mezzanine and prepared the remaining ingredients for the upcoming tests.

This preparation helped the teams start testing with the equipment and materials in place.

Testing the Mixer Against Rise Baking's Requirements

On the first morning, the MIXSYS team reviewed the equipment, material staging, and ingredient-loading process. When the Rise Baking team arrived, everyone met to review the test objectives, equipment, and setup.

MIXSYS and Sweet Solutions then worked together to run the mixer and dust collector. The teams followed Rise Baking's instructions for adding ingredients and unloading them from the mixer.

Throughout each mixing cycle, MIXSYS reviewed equipment parameters with the Rise Baking team to evaluate performance against the requirements established for the test.

After mixing, the team recorded discharge times and weights. MIXSYS shared the collected data with Rise Baking so the teams could review the results and confirm that the equipment met the specified requirements.

Collecting Samples and Completing Each Batch

Once the measurements were collected, the teams moved the tested product through the Sweet Solutions facility and transferred it to a disposal bin outside the building. This process kept the test material separate from Sweet Solutions' production.

The mixer required several additional dumps to empty completely. The Rise Baking team collected samples from each dump, and MIXSYS shared the corresponding data for review.

The teams repeated this process for all six batches, completing the required testing within the three-day FAT.

Coordination Makes the Difference

The Rise Baking FAT involved more than the mixer itself. Equipment preparation, ingredient staging, facility coordination, testing, measurements, and sample collection all played a role in completing the work.

MIXSYS worked alongside Rise Baking and Sweet Solutions throughout the process, from preparing the test area to reviewing the results of each batch.
